Profile
Bharati Vidyapeeth University College of Ayurved has carved a ‘niche’ in the vast field of Ayurved, not only in India but also globally. This is the pioneer Ayurved College in Maharashtra to start Ayurved education in English medium. The college is approved by Central Council of Indian Medicine [CCIM] & Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. It has also been accredited by NAAC, Bangalore and received ‘A’ Grade.
This is one of the few institutes in India that offers post graduate course in all the 14 departments with 57 intake capacity along with 100 intake capacity per year for undergraduate course.
The college owns Ayurvedic Hospital with 350-bed strength. Our OPDs & IPDs attract a huge number of patients, facilitating our students to get better clinical exposure. The hospital boasts of modern facilities for authentic Ayurvedic treatments like Ksharasootra, Panchkarma and supporting modern treatments. It also runs a few special OPDs like Shwas (Asthma) OPD, Garbhasanskar OPD & Executive Panchakarma Center.
The college library has ample space. It has a huge reading hall & a well furnished section containing more than 17,000 volumes on Ayurvedic and allied medicines. Library subscribes to imperative scientific periodicals.
The college conserves an herbal garden having more than 250 medicinal plants species. Few endangered herbal species are seen here. The states of art equipments are installed in our pharmacy to manufacture variety of classical Ayurvedic preparations.
Many senior faculty members of this institute receive invitations to be resource persons for national and international conferences. They are also invited to share their views in designing syllabus and curriculum at the central council. A few faculty members have to their credit, research papers published in indexed journals. Active interaction between faculty, other academicians & professionals in the field by way of seminars, workshops give the students variety of experiences.
Recently conducted international event, Global Ayurved Conference and Health Expo’ 2009 received a very good acclaim. A special issue of Bharati Vidyapeeth University’s Research Journal containing best articles from all over India was released thereafter.
Every year a few students are taken up as research fellows by renowned institutes abroad. Scientists working in universities from European countries come for discussions and collaborations regarding Ayurvedic medicines and Panchkarma treatments.
The achievements of BVU’s College of Ayurved in a span of merely 20 years make it the most ‘sought after institute’ by students.
