Admission Criteria for Post - Graduation Program in Music / Dance


1. Master of Arts – Music with NEP (Choice Based Credit System) (Gurukul System)

a) Specialization

Music (Hindustani Classical) Vocal (Khayal / Dhrupad)
Instrumental (Harmonium, Sitar, Flute, Violin, Santoor, Sarod, Shehnai, Sundri)
Instrumental Percussion (Tabla / Pakhawaj / Drum / Dholak / Dholaki)

b) Minimum Qualification
  • This is a Two year full time course. Any student after passing graduation examination or equivalent examination from a recognized University can apply for the Program.
  • The candidate has to undergo an audition test before a panel of eminent scholars from the field of Music.
  • This program is not for beginners. Candidates should have good knowledge of the field in which he / she is applying.
c) Minimum Mandatory Experience while applying
Music
  • Vocal:Candidate should know Seven Ragas. Candidate should be able sing Khayal (Wilambit and Drut) or Dhrupad with its proper elaboration in any one Raga by playing his / her own Tanpura for 15 mins.
  • Instrumental (Non Percussion): (Harmonium, Flute, Santoor, Sarod, Shehnai, Sundri, Sarangi, Sitar and Violin.)Nine streams are available for this course. Candidate should know Seven Ragas and should be able to play Masitkhani and Razakhani Gat or Bandish (Wilambit and Drut) in any one Raga for 15 Min.
  • Instrumental (Percussion):Candidate should know five Taals, components of solo playing and accompaniment. Candidate should be able to play one Taal including Peshkar / Prastar, Kayada, Paran, Rela Tukda, chakradhar etc for 15 mins.

2. Master of Arts – Dance with NEP (Choice Based Credit System) (Gurukul System)

a) Specialization

Dance Bharatanatyam
Kathak
Sattriya

b) Minimum Qualification
  • This is a Two year full time course. Any student after passing graduation examination or equivalent examination from a recognized University can apply for the Program.
  • The candidate has to undergo an audition test before a panel of eminent scholars from the field of Music.
  • This program is not for beginners. Candidates should have good knowledge of the field in which he / she is applying.
 
c) Minimum Mandatory Experience while applying
Dance
  • Bharatnatyam:Candidate should be able to perform solo Bharatnatyam with focus on Koutukam, Padam, Varnam, Tillana for 15 Mins.
  • Kathak:Candidate should know at least Three different Taals, Candidate should be able to perform solo Kathak for 15 Mins showing Vandana, Gatbhav, Tatkar, with its specialities, Layakari, Farmaishi Chakradhar, Paran, Thumari, Toda, Tukfa etc.
  • Sattriya – Presentation of 15 mins - ( Vandana, Shuddh Nritta (Ramdani)  and Abhinaya, Candidate should be able to recite the composition of Tala in Hands, should know the meaning of Words of Abhinaya piece)  

Admission Criteria for Graduation Program in Music / Dance / Kirtan

1. Bachelor of Arts – Music with NEP (Choice Based Credit System) (Gurukul System)

a) Specialization

Music
  • Vocal:Candidate should know at least three Ragas and should be able to sing Chhota Khayal composition with Aalap and Taan or Dhrupad with its Vistar for 10 min.
  • Instrumental (Non Percussion): (Harmonium, Flute, Santoor, Sarod, Shehnai, Sundri, Sarangi, Sitar and Violin.)Nine streams are available for this course. Candidate should know at least three Ragas and should be able to play Madhya Laya Gat or Bandish with Aalap and Taan for 10 Min.
  • Instrumental (Percussion):Candidate should know at least two Talas. Candidate should know the components of Tabla / Pakhawaj solo performance and should have basic knowledge of accompaniment. Candidate should be able to perform / play Kayada / Paran, Rela, Tukada etc for 10 Mins.

2. Bachelor of Arts – Dance with NEP (Choice Based Credit System) (Gurukul System)

a) Specialization

b) Minimum Qualification

  • This course is not for beginners. Candidates should have basic training in the field of performing arts.
c) Minimum Mandatory Experience while applying
Dance
  • Bharatnatyam:Candidate should be able to perform solo Bharatnatyam with focus on Nritta and Abhinaya (Compositions like Alaripu, Jatiswaram, Kautukam or Shloka) for 10 Mins.
  • Kathak:Candidate should have knowledge of at least two Taals. Candidate should be able to perform kathak for 10 mins. Showing Vandana, Gatbhav, Thumari, Toda, Tukada etc.
  • Sattriya –

3. Bachelor of Arts – Kirtan with NEP (Choice Based Credit System) (Gurukul System)

a) Specialization

c) Minimum Mandatory Experience while applying Kirtan
  • Naradiya: Candidate should know at least one Abhanaga, Ovi etc. and he / she should be able to speak on any topic related to kirtan.
  • Varakari: Candidate should know at least one Abhanaga, Ovi etc and he / she should be able to speak on any topic related to kirtan.

Certificate in Folk Rhythmic Instruments

(Duration : 03 Months) (Credit System)

  • Duration: Three Months
  • Total No. of Subjects: 02 (Total Credits: 02)
  • Number of Practical: 01
  • Number of Viva: 01
  • Tuition and Other Fees: Around 12,000/-plus Examination Fees would be extra.

Minimum Qualification: This is a Three Months course. Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can take admission.

Criteria for Certificate in Folk Rhythmic Instruments

  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.
  • Student doing any other course in Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) or any other University can also take admission to this course simultaneously while doing their respective course.
  • Admission will be given on the basis of Audition Test. Applicant must be able to play Tabla / Pakhawaj.

Certificate in Indian Light Music

(Duration : 03 Months)

  • Duration: Three Months
  • Total No. of Subjects: 02 (Total Credits: 02)
  • Number of Practical: 01
  • Number of Viva: 01
  • Tuition and Other Fees: Around 12,000/-plus Examination Fees would be extra.

Minimum Qualification: This is a Three Months course. Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can take admission.

  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.
  • Student doing any other course in Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) or any other University can also take admission to this course simultaneously while doing their respective course.
  • Admission will be given on the basis of Audition Test. Candidate should be able to sing. He / She must have learned the basics of Classical Music.

Certificate in Appreciation of Indian Performing Arts

(Duration : 02 Months)

  • Duration: Two Months
  • Total No. of Subjects: 02 (Total Credits: 02)
  • Number of Theory Paper: 01
  • Number of Viva: 01
  • Tuition and Other Fees: Around 12,000/-plus Examination Fees would be extra.

Minimum Qualification: This is a Three Months course. Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can take admission.

Criteria for Certificate in Appreciation of Indian Performing Arts

  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.

  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.

Certificate in Acting

(Duration : 03 Months)

  • Duration: Three Months
  • Total No. of Subjects: 02 (Total Credits: 02)
  • Number of Theory: 01
  • Number of practical and Viva: 01
  • Tuition and Other Fees: Around 12,000/-plus Examination Fees would be extra.

Minimum Qualification: This is a Three Months course. Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can take admission.

  • Any student after Passing 12th (H.S.C) or equivalent examination from any recognized institute can apply for the course. No age limit. Anybody who is physically fit can take admission to this course.
  • Student doing any other course in Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) or any other University can also take admission to this course simultaneously while doing their respective course.
  • Audition test will be held for this course. Candidate has to perform any one piece related to acting, theatre.
