National Science Day 2020

Every year on the occasion of the National Science Day, College organizes ‘Science Exhibition’. This year exhibition was organized at the department of Zoology. Dr. Mrs. Sushama S. Pawar and Dr. Anuradha Jape took the initiative of encouraging the students to put up such a wonderful and enlightened exhibition. The objective of this exhibition was not only to inculcate science attitude and research mindedness but also creating interest in science so that they develop qualities of analytical and critical thinking. Science exhibition was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Prin. Dr. K. D. Jadhav, Joint secretary, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. At the inaugural function Incharge Principal Dr.S.R.Patil felicitated Hon’ble Prin. Dr. K. D. Jadhav. In the inaugural address Prin. Dr. K. D. Jadhav said that “We celebrate the national science day in the memory of great Indian scientist Dr.C.V.Raman. Every student from all faculties should do some research, share their ideas and through interdisciplinary research contribute for the betterment of society”. Prin. Dr. K. D. Jadhav congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. Mrs. Sushama S. Pawar for organizing National Science Day-2020. After the inaugural address Incharge Principal Dr.S.R.Patil said that “For National Science Day-2020 the theme is ‘Women in Science’. He inspired girl students to do research and contribute for society as a women.”Organizer Dr. Mrs. Sushama S. Pawar motivated the students for enhancement of zeal towards science. She further declared that on the occasion of National Science Day Department of Zoology begins one innovative activity-‘Science Dictionary Point’. Inauguration of this activity was done by Prin. Dr. K. D. Jadhav. Dr. A.A. Jape anchored and proposed vote of thanks.
This year over 140 students of undergraduate, post-graduate and junior college participated in the exhibition. The participating teams shared their creative ideas and solutions to everyday challenges through their innovative working/non-working models, projects, posters, charts and presentations supported by reports, display and research findings. F.Y.B.Sc. students prepared eco-friendly caps on which they wrote various slogans like ‘Save water’, ‘Save earth’, ‘Plant trees’, ‘Say NO to plastic’, etc. They also presented charts, models and posters on life cycle of Bombyx mori, L.S. of Kidney and V.S. of tooth, eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell, food chain and digestive system of cockroach. Poster on Minnamata Disease was explained well by Mr. Dhananjay Kalbhor and stem cells by Ms. Shabnam Pathan and team. Poster on ‘Effect of Nicotine on human lungs’ presented by Ms. Tanisha Haldankar and Ms. Apeksha Gaikwad. Presentation and model on ‘Structure of Kidney and excretion’ was given by Ms. Minal and team. On the theme of National Science Day-2020, a group of S.Y.B.Sc. students gave presentation on ‘Contribution of Women in Science’ including women scientists in all disciplines. The presentation was prepared by Mr. Ayush Jamdade, Kartik Pawar, Himani Dhabale, Yogada Panse, Siddhi Mokal, Ashish Pawar, Arnav Joshi, Sonali Khilare under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. Sushama S. Pawar.  T.Y.B.Sc. Botany students presented model of Plant cell, Yeast cell, DNA, Chloroplast, Fossils, Mitochondria,etc., posters and charts including solar energy in irrigation, properties of plants under the guidance of Dr.S.G.Pawar.
Posters and charts demonstrating study of various pathogens, isolation and research findings was presented by microbiology post graduate students under the guidance of Dr. B.B. Ballal and Dr.A.A. Jape. Model of Corona virus was made by   microbiology students Shripad, Nihal, Komalba. Other exhibits include posters on ‘Mendel’s Law of Inheritance and Non Mendelian Inheritance presented by T.Y.B.Sc. Microbiology students under the guidance of Mrs.R.S.Chavan.
Some of the models of T.Y.B.Sc. and M.Sc. Chemistry students include Sugar Industry Model made by Namrata Dhavan and team, Lung Capacitor by Suraj Salunkhe and team, Smart City Model by Tushar Suryawanshi and team, Synthesis of biodiesel by Shankar Pawar and team, Single use of plastic by Sudhir Parade and team, Magic beakers, Smoke absorber, Elephant toothpaste and charts, posters on green approach, natural dyes and natural lipsticks were presented under the guidance of faculty of chemistry. The working model of Anti-thief instrument was centre of attraction of the exhibition and it was prepared by 11th Science student Prathamesh and team. Students from Computer Science presented the programmes on wedding event management, tours and travels and model of air conditioner made by Mr. Parth Kumbhar under the guidance of Dr.S. S. Shukla. Over 800 students from school and junior college visited the exhibition.
The exhibition was a great success all in all which covered all the aspects of Science and encouraged the students in developing the team spirit, innovativeness and enthusiastic attitude.
