Overview

There has been an increasing demand for nurses across the world, thereby making nursing a lucrative and viable career option. College of Nursing - Pune of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University is among the first private colleges to provide various academic offerings in Nursing, ranging from GNM to Ph.D.

The college was set up on September 26th, 1992 under Pune University and was headed by Dr. Maj. (Mrs.) Tapti Bhattacharjee. In 1996, the College of Nursing became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University.

The College and the degrees it offers have been approved and accorded recognition by the Indian Nursing Council, as well as the Maharashtra Nursing Council. Moreover, the College of Nursing received "A" Grade Accreditation by NAAC, Bangalore in 2004 under BVDU and was reaccredited with "A" Grade by NAAC, Bangalore in 2011.

In addition to GNM and Ph.D., the College of Nursing also offers a four-year undergraduate B.Sc. Nursing programmes. It also offers a postgraduate M.Sc. Nursing programme with the following specializations:

  • Community Health Nursing
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing

The College strives hard to ensure that the trained nurses meet the rising demands of the growing healthcare system both at the regional as well as the national levels. Apart from the nursing education, the College works hard to accomplish excellence in the field of clinical practice and community service. It also ensures that the nursing students emerge as an excellent clinicians and leaders and work towards improving the health and health status of the society. The programmes also prepare individuals to take up the role of professional nurses who can practice in a wide array of healthcare settings.
