About Department

The Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology deals with two subjects – Dental Anatomy and Histology for the 1st year of BDS and Oral Pathology and Microbiology for the 3rd year of BDS.

While Oral and Maxillofacial pathology deals with the diseases of the mouth, jaws and related structures and investigates the causes, processes, and effects of these diseases, Oral Pathology focuses on the research and diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical, or other examinations.

  • • In our department an interdisciplinary blending of pathology and microbiology happens for a better understanding of various morphological and functional alterations in cells, tissues and organs in general pathology and Knowledge of the microorganisms that they tend to encounter in their field Learnings on infectious organisms that can spread via aerosols, blood or body fluids, Ways for maintaining sterility of instruments/materials used during practical work, adherence to universal safety precautions and appropriate biological waste
