In appreciation to that the college has achieved, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have accorded the most coveted grades to this college. Poona College of Pharmacy is ranked in the top 50 pharmacy colleges by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), consistently. Additionally, the UGC has identified this college under its Special Assistance Programme (SAP) and the AICTE has recognized this college as a centre under its Quality Improvement Programme (QIP). The separate research wing of 6000 sq. m., well-equipped with latest equipment, specially designed for research, is a unique feature of our college. Its continuously enriched library is digitalized, through which the students have access to several national and international journals, as well as reference books.
During the last decade or so, our research-motivated faculty has completed several research projects received from various prestigious funding agencies. The faculty has an excellent research track record that includes about 11 granted patents and 50 filed patents; more than 1600 research papers published in international and national journals of repute. The college also organizes several AICTE FDPs, STTPs, refresher courses/workshops every year. At Poona College of Pharmacy, we believe in ‘Interactive Teaching Learning’ with the help of pedagogical tools, logical assessment, and skill development by offering a dynamic education ecosystem for lifelong learning. With the inception of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, education has become dynamic to adapt to changes in technology and societal needs. We nurture students to acquire knowledge, hone their professional skills along with thinking abilities to address real professional challenges.
Along with academics, the overall personality development of students has been our major concern. Our college regularly conducts cultural and sport activities. The Pharmacy Cricket Cup tournament for men and women is one of the major activities initiated in 1986 for promoting academia-industry interactions. Student chapters like IPSOR, IPA and institute innovation cells (MHRD-IIC) like SKiiLD PCP, EDC provide platforms for students’ creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, start-ups, and skill development. The PCP Alumni association, through its unique event Know Our PCPian (KoP), has connected with a large number of alumni globally. Faculty members, NSS Unit, and Pharmacy practice students are routinely involved in social activities to promote healthcare and well-being of the public. Our Placement Cell, led by enthusiastic students and faculty, has been reaching out to national and international pharma industries.
Based on our credentials, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, M.S.) has approved us as a Public Testing Laboratory (PTL) for the assessment of allopathic, ayurvedic, and cosmetic formulations. We also have a Centre for Food Testing (CFT), accredited by NABL, APEDA, and AGMARK. Our students get exposure and hands-on experience of analysis and quality assessment processes in these units. Also, we provide our expertise in terms of consultancies for the betterment of the pharmacy profession. The college has been conducting continuous education programmes for retail pharmacists and FDA officers.
We are aware that although we have achieved a lot, we still have a long way to go. With the cooperation of our illustrious alumni, pharmacy industries, students, faculty, and all well-wishers, we wish to sustain and maintain the pace of our progress.
With Best Regards
