The syllabus pattern is designed in such a way that helps in understanding each and every topic in a practical way.

Initially, when I came here, I was worried and nervous about adjusting with the surroundings and the academics, but the faculty was really motivating and supportive. They give personal attention to each student through the mentor-mentee meetings held every month. First year to me will always be synonymous to the experience we gained while we dissected the cadavers and tried our best to understand every bit of human anatomy. In Anatomy, the lectures of a particular topic were followed by the dissection of the same which left a lasting visual landmark in my mind and cleared my concepts. The topics were covered in a very systematic manner that moulded our applied skills and oriented us with the clinical application of the same. Also an organised schedule was given to us, months in advance, which helped me plan my to do list to simultaneously prepare for the topics done in class and those that would be done in subsequent classes. It helped me in active recalling and retention of information. Revision classes were also held by the department before our exams, which were of tremendous help. Our faculty is also very helpful and actively organises seminars and quizzes on various topics to encourage us to further study a topic and gather additional information. To sum it up, those days were filled with dissecting, exploring and getting fascinated by the intricacies of the human body. I’ll always remember and cherish these memories.

To begin with, it was a ‘Holistic’ experience to study and understand about the para-clinical branch of Pathology. As a student of the first batch to follow the CBME Curriculum, it was a totally different journey. Ranging from the broad spectrum of theory lectures to practical sessions and clinical insights, we were well oriented with nearing ‘state-of-the-art’ teaching styles and education patterns. It was a great opportunity to not only understand about the pathophysiology of a disease, but also visualize the same via the wide array of specimens taught to us in the practical halls. From a microscopic slide to an entire gross specimen, we were made to understand each dimension of a specific disease. Pathology, being my favourite subject, proved to be a very significant department in all Clinical Settings for not only diagnosis but also from the vision of understanding and monitoring of a patient.

Luckily, BVDUMC University and Medical College, Pune is gifted with an overwhelming department wherein the faculty always has taken interest and given utmost importance to our learning by adopting a multi-dimensional approach and various modalities of teachings, ruling out the conventional era of simple didactic lectures. Each and very faculty member, and professor has been indeed very kind, utmost helpful and above all, aided my understanding to have a very strong conceptual basis which will certainly last forever.
 In a nutshell, my personal experience to have learned about this subject and successfully scored well in it too, is only because of my teachers, the entire department, and this beautiful subject indeed! Lastly, my drive in this arena is not only limited to theoretical knowledge but it was rather enhanced by different ways of teachings which were adopted by the faculty to teach us, which I found of utmost importance. I have joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2019.
In last 3 years, I have experienced that all the staff members are very good teachers. Because of them I could learn how to manage the complicated cases.
Apart from imparting knowledge, they have cultivated the skills of conversation, communication and counselling in building doctors patient relationship.
Department carries out different social activities by arranging camps for health check-up.
