Overview
Welcome to Department of Physics. The Physics department at Yashwantrao Mohite College of Arts, Science and
Commerce, Pune, established in 1978, is one of the foremost places in the country, providing world-class
undergraduate and postgraduate education, as well as pursuing research in diverse areas of material science.
As of now undergraduate course in Physics is available. The department is one of the rare places providing
B.Sc. academic degree in Physics. This basic science course develops skills and create professionals who are
equally comfortable with both science and technology. Our research areas include solar cell, thin films, gas
sensors, smart window, supercapacitor etc. as far as material science stream is concerned. On the other
hand, research in Atmospheric and Space science is also included in this department. The department also
have experimental facilities which includes vacuum system, spray pyrolysis set up, UV-VIS spectrometer,
resistivity by four probe method, furnace, double distilled water plant, deposition method by SILAR etc. The
department has published more than 87 research articles in national and international journals and also
completed 03 research projects worth Rs. 10,40,800/- since establishment. There are 15 students which
awarded Ph.D. degree under this department. The syllabus is designed as per UGC’s Learning
Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) and CBCS system. The conceptual teaching is carried out using
demonstrative presentation via instruments and PowerPoint.
