BVIEER Students Win First Prize in National Geo-Innovate Challenge

Our final-year MSc Geoinformatics students 2022-24 batch - Rahim, Shantanu, and Akshay, have secured the first prize in the prestigious Geoinnovation Challenge themed "Geo-Innovate for a Sustainable Nation" challenge, organized by Anna University, Chennai, and supported by the National Geospatial Program, Department of Science and Technology ( NGP-DST) , Government of India on 27th July, 2024. Their innovative project, "Drishti: A Multifaceted Approach for Forest Fire Detection & Management," impressed the judges and earned them this top honor among other 25 teams. The first prize includes a cash award, a certificate of recognition, and an opportunity to get funding as a business proposal from DST. Congratulations, team!

BVIEER Students Selected for Joint Summer School on 'Sustainable Cities and Communities'

We are delighted to announce that 10 ( ten) students have been selected to participate in the Joint Summer School on 'Sustainable Cities and Communities'. This esteemed program, held in Cologne, Germany, is jointly conducted by the University of Cologne (UoC) and Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Institute of Environment Education and Research ( BVIEER) , Pune from September 30 to October 11, 2024.

BVIEER Students Certified as Lead Auditors by Bureau Veritas

The students of BVIEER have achieved the prestigious certification as Lead Auditors (ISO 14001:2015) by Bureau Veritas, a renowned French certifying body. This certification positions them as leaders in the field of environmental management. The ISO 14001:2015 standard is globally recognized and emphasizes effective environmental management systems, making this certification a significant milestone in their professional journey.

Team from Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (BVIEER), Pune, has emerged victorious at the Maharashtra State Level Summit of WWF ECHO 2023. This year, the theme focused on Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities. The team’s entrepreneurship idea , titled Avyaya (meaning "imperishable" in Sanskrit), was presented with the innovative tagline "Taste from Waste." The project aims to transform fruit and vegetable peels into delicious, consumable products, thus promoting sustainability and waste reduction.

All our programs require students to complete research projects or dissertations as part of their coursework. These projects give students the opportunity to explore various topics of interest in depth and develop critical thinking and research skills. Our students work on topics like---human wildlife conflicts , wildlife trade, urban biodiversity, applications of remote sensing , pollution, water and wastewater treatment, education for sustainable development, etc

Exchange Programmes with Foreign Universities

Our tie-ups with universities abroad gives our students a leverage and a great experience to learn in different surroundings. We have tie-ups with universities in Germany , the Netherlands and the US. We carry out joint research and survey, field visits exchange programmes , etc. regularly. Internship

All our programs require students to undertake internship during the two-year programme. They work with various institutes and get an opportunity to work on real projects. Many of them get absorbed by the institution after they pass out. They also have a chance to do internships with universities abroad with whom we have tie-ups.

Field Trips

Depending on the program, Masters students may have the opportunity to participate in field trips or site visits. These trips may take students to relevant locations like National Parks and reserves or research facilities and industries allowing them to gain hands-on experience and see real-world applications of their course. Besides fieldwork, working in labs is also an important part of their lives.

Guest Lectures

Many guest lectures are arranged for the our students. We invite experts from industry or academics and government. These lectures provide students with the opportunity to learn from leaders in their field and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments.

Group Work

Our courses involve group-based assignments and individual assignments. The assignmts are designed so that they help students develop their thoughts, work on real-time issues and develop problem-solving and critical thinking competencies. Working in groups allow students to collaborate , communicate , develop teamwork culture and also enhance leadership skills.

Conferences and Seminars

Many Masters students attend academic conferences and seminars to present their research or learn about new developments in their field within and outside the institute. These events provide students with the opportunity to network with peers and experts and gain exposure to new ideas and perspectives.

Social Activities

In addition to academic activities, our students are involved in social events and extracurricular activities. We run a unit of National Social Service ( NSS) at the institute. These activities allow students to connect with social aspects of the society through their stay at the village
