Field Visits and Guest Lectures during our Winter Semester (January-April 2024)

In order to provide practical experience, and enhance students' understanding of theoretical concepts, field visits are an important component of our syllabus.

1. Visit to Solid Waste Management Facility, Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant by Semester 2 Students of Environment Science and Technology on 18th ,20th and 26th March,2024 respectively to gain practical insights into waste management practices, recycling processes, water and wastewater management as a part of their syllabus of Design Processes for Water and Wastewater Treatment and Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.

2. Visit to Godrej Mangrove , Vikhroli, Mumbai by WCA Second Semester Students on February 29, 2024 to gain practical insights into environmental conservation efforts, particularly in the context of urban ecosystems and mangrove conservation as a part of their syllabus of Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation and develop insight into wetland management, flamingos, etc

3. Visit to Devrai Foundation Pune on February 28, 2024 by students who had opted for elective Ecorestoration to understand how efforts to convert barren landscapes to green forests, eventually replenish ground water levels, and increase sustainable nature of socio-economic growth is done at the ground level

4. Visit to Garudmachi , Mulshi on February 21-22, 2024 by students of Geoinformatics as part of their syllabus of Field Techniques to learn about mapping, drone surveying , etc

5. Visit to Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai and Thane Creek by WCA students on 15th February 2024 as a part of Field Taxonomy to gain practical experience in identifying and classifying various species.,

6. Visit to the Effluent Treatment Plant located in Cummins India Ltd, Kothrud on 16 February 2024 to get valuable insights into industrial wastewater management.

7. Visit to Pench National Park from January 28 to February 3, 2024 by WCA and EVST students as a part of Field Techniques where students learnt field techniques related to camera traps,quadrants , natural and social science research methods besides interacting with forest offcials of Pench ( MP ) and Pench ( Maharashtra)
