NSS Camp conducted by BVIEER at Village Kathawle, Pune

The NSS Unit of BVIEER recently concluded a remarkable six -day NSS camp held in Kothale village, Purandar taluka, Pune, Maharashtra, from December 18 to December 23, 2023 . It made an impactful engagement with the rural community. This endeavor provided an invaluable opportunity for students under the guidance of Dr Binaya Pattnaik , Assistant Professor and NSS Officer to immerse themselves in real-life scenarios, transcending the boundaries of conventional learning into transformative learning.

The six-day camp was was a bridge between education and real-world challenges.Over six days, students initiated awareness programs on waste management, enacted plays on water and sanitation, discussed biodiversity, conducted health surveys, explored spatial thinking for rural issues , engaged in cleanliness drives, demonstrated kitchen gardens' benefits, studied local agriculture, and promoted sustainability through games and compost pit construction. Additionally, they facilitated bird-watching sessions for school children to identify local bird species.

The camp wrapped up with a valedictory session where students and villagers expressed their thoughts, sharing their learnings in front of esteemed guests from the village's administrative setup and the school trust. Overall, the camp potentially enhanced their leadership, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, environmental awareness, technical, and community engagement skills. The camp not only broadened perspectives but also fostered a deeper appreciation for social responsibility and the transformative impact of hands-on experiences. The school children and villagers also got a new insight into how they can protect their environment and lead a better lifestyle.
