1. Research Capacity Building

  • Observership programs for MSc/PhD students (Community/Clinical/Lab projects)
  • IRSHA has hosted Observership programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IT and Biotechnology, College of Ayurved, BVDU, YM College, BVDU. Residents and MD from Bharati hospital and Research Centre.  

     

  • Hosting newly recruited ICMR scientists during induction
  • A two-week observership was hosted by IRSHA, BVDU and Bharati Hospital for ICMR scientists from the 20th August 2024 to 29th August 2024.

2. Research Capacity Building

1. Research Methodology Workshop for Clinicians and Faculty at Bharati Vidyapeeth:

Two research methodology workshops for clinicians and faculty from Bharati Hospital and Research Centre and Rajiv Gandhi institute of IT and Biotechnology, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University (BVDU), Pune were undertaken in the month of November 2023.

This workshop included over 40 participants from various departments of Bharati hospital like Department of ObGy, Dept of Pediatrics, Dept of Public Health, Dept of Medicine, Dept of Surgery, Dept of Physiology, Dept of Psychiatry, Poona College of Pharmacy and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IT and Biotechnology.

2. Research Methodology Workshop" at Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi in association with ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Interactive Research School for Health Affairs (IRSHA), Pune

Three day workshop was organized by Dr. Royana Singh, Prof and Head, Department of Anatomy, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, who is the Nodal officer of the Multidisciplinary Research Units (MRU) from BHU. This workshop was organized from 18th to 20th December 2024 and included clinicians from four different MRUs – Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, UP; Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj, UP; G.S.V.M Medical College, Kanpur, UP and Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur, UP. 5 participants from each MRUs (Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of different departments) were part of this workshop.

3. Participation in Research Studies

Research Participation Summary:

  • IRSHA Represents the West zone for the ICMR Indian Child Growth Reference Development Research Initiative. The primary objective of the study is to develop growth standards for Indian Children, aged 0-24 months having no major biological, socio-behavioral or economic constraints to growth and development. The secondary objectives are to develop normative neurodevelopmental charts for Indian Children 0-24 months of age and to develop growth curves for term Small for Gestational Age (SGA) babies from 0-24 months of age
  • IRSHA participates in the ICMR Stillbirth initiative – Building evidence and designing solutions to prevent stillbirths in India- A collaborative approach to retrospectively analyze pregnancy cohorts in India. The group is in process of developing a manuscript “Cohort profile: The ICMR-Stillbirth Pooled India Cohort (ICMR-SPIC) to Estimate the Prevalence, Time Trends, Risk Factors, and Prediction Modelling of Stillbirths in India.”
  • Invited by the ICMR Cochrane Affiliate Centre to be part of the Pooled Data Analysis (PDA) Anemia Workshop. The focus of the workshop was on addressing methodological issues related to the PDA Data Shell and data analysis.

    4. Resource Sharing

    • Clinical data from the ICMR CAR-REVAMP study has been shared to the following: ICMR - data sharing of the REVAMP cohort for the ICMR Stillbirth Project and ICMR PDA Cocharne -Anemia
    • Library Resources - IRSHA and all the colleges in the University have digital libraries with subscription to many e-learning resources.
    • Laboratory Infrastructure- We have

      • Well-equipped research laboratories to carry out work in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology

      • Central animal house facility

      • One of its kind state-of-art BSL3 Virology facility (first time in a University setting)

      • High-end equipment such as Flowcytometry, GC, HPLC, HPTLC

    Summary of Networking Activities:

    • 1. The ICMR activities have been disseminated to Researchers (Clinicians and Faculty) from Bharati Hospital and Research Centre and Rajiv Gandhi institute of IT and Biotechnology, BVDU
    • 2. Dr. Sadhana Joshi was invited as the Chief Guest for the induction and orientation session of Master of Science (M.Sc.) Nutrition and Dietetics at Symbiosis International University, Pune where activities undertaken by ICMR were explained to staff and students
