Department of General Surgery was established in Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be) University Medical College, Pune in the year December 1990. The department has been home to several renowned stalwarts in the field of Surgery. At present Dr.

Mrunal Ketkar is the Head of the Department. Department of Surgery is like a closely knit family of dedicated staff which has taken over the challenge in not only keeping up to the optimum levels of patient care and clinical teaching but also improving them and widening the horizons.

Highlights

Surgery Department is headed by Prof. Dr. Mrunal Ketkar. Department consist of experienced and highly skilled group of surgeons. It comprises of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professors and Senior Resident along with PG Students. We are also back up by super speciality Department like, Neurosurgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Oncosurgery. Our department has also started fellowship of 1 year programme in Minimal Invasive Surgery and GI & HPB Surgery.

We have extensive programmes for teaching of undergraduates, Postgraduates to make them capable doctors. Active participation in various Research projects in addition to teaching, training of students. There is active participation by the faculty & Postgraduate students in various outdoor activities & health camps.
