Teaching Learning Activity
We have a very robust training program for postgraduates, undergraduates, Paramedics and nurses. In addition to emergency medicine postgraduates (three residents per batch), we have rotations of PG students from the departments of Anaesthesia, Surgery, Medicine, Radiology and Orthopedics.
The hospital has a state of art simulation lab. Under graduate and post graduate students are trained on the advanced mannequins.
Undergraduate students are rotated in small batches for fifteen days at a time on two occasions for practical small group teaching. During internship interns are attached for fifteen day to pick up skills.
Nurses and paramedics are routinely trained by nurse educators and EMD faculty. On joining the department all of them have to undergo induction training.
Along with department of critical care medicine the department of emergency medicine conducts regular training sessions in life support management (BLS, ACLS, ATLS) for doctors, nurses and paramedics. These are carried out on high fidelity manikin (SIMMAN) for teaching airway management, resuscitation protocols and part training manikins for chest compression and intubation.
To assist the students in the learning there are facilities for academic enhancement. There is a digital and physical library in the college and also in the department.
