The Department of High-Risk Pregnancy & Perinatology has undergone a ‘Metamorphosis’ and is now addressed as Department of ‘Maternal & Fetal Medicine’.

Most pregnancies go smoothly without any unusual complications. However, in 8 to 10% of pregnancies, there are complications related to the health of the mother or fetus. There has been a significant rise in the rate of High-Risk Pregnancies in recent times that requires care and management by skilled personnel trained in this aspect of Obstetrics. This has led to the development of ‘High-Risk Pregnancy’ as a sub-specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Addition of the diagnostic arm of ‘Fetal Medicine’ has made comprehensive care of the High Risk Mothers possible under one roof.

The Department of High-Risk Pregnancy and Perinatology [Maternal & Fetal Medicine] is committed to improving the diagnosis and treatment of pregnant women at high risk for pregnancy-related issues. It ensures the best outcome for the mother and the baby.

Achievements

Dr Aniket Kakade is one of the few Obstetricians who is ‘Qualified’ with a Fellowship in High-Risk Pregnancy & Critical Care in Obstetrics. He is a National Faculty for High-Risk Pregnancy and Critical Care in Obstetrics. Part of team for making Algorithms in High-Risk Pregnancy has numerous national and international publications to his credit. He is instrumental in developing a one-of-a-kind dedicated Obstetrics HDU in the city.
Dr Mitali Parvatikar is trained in Fetal Medicine with experience in Diagnostic and Invasive procedures.
