Aim of the Project

  • Exchange best practices between EU and Asian institutions in the area of inclusive education through sport.
  • Develop a multidisciplinary approach in sport and health sciences in line with Bologna standards, promoting inclusive education and correct nutrition through modular courses, lifelong learning programs (online), and sport events.
  • Enhance soft skills (e.g., respect, team spirit, collaboration) of Asian students through informal learning activities.
  • Build the capacity of Asian partner educational institutions to effectively manage volunteering student clubs that organize events in local communities promoting inclusion through sport and healthy lifestyles.

To develop lifelong learning (LLL) programs for trainers, coaches, sports clubs, and local communities.

To create sport club units within each higher education institution (HEI) that promote inclusion through student sport activities and volunteerism.

Spirit Project Training Program In Portugal

Under Erasmus+ funded SPIRIT Project, consortium organized training program during 11-15 September 2023 in Portugal. The SPIRIT International Event was held at the University of Lisboa, Portugal. It was attended by Prof. Dr. Kirti Mahajan, Lear and Project Head, Director, International Affairs, BV(DU) along with three students namely Ms. Gayatri Muzumdar (Student at School of Physiotherapy, Pune), Mr. Kushagrah Sahani (Student at School of Physiotherapy, Sangli) and Mr. Yug Vatyani (student at IMED, Pune).

This event was based on the theme "Inspiring Inclusion in Sports: Success Stories, Practical Skills, and Management Strategies", opens up insight into the development of sports with one of the keywords 'inclusion'. The word inclusion means including all levels of society with various limitations, including women with disabilities, and various gender differences. The event, which was held for five days, was attended by 11 universities from Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia as partners in the European Union Erasmus Plus funding SPIRIT Project.

University of Lisboa hosted this event at their activity center ‘The Faculdade de Montricidade Humana,’ and Ms. Ana Pipio was the event coordinator. "This event opens up insight to all participants on how to develop sports with the keyword inclusion in all forms of sports activities, especially physical improvement,"

Increasing physical activity and proper nutrition are the keys to preventing non-communicable diseases in the future. So, the inclusion of various groups, including those with disabilities, is very important.

The presentation session was organized on the topic ‘Inclusions in High Performance Sport.’ This presentation about success stories and various ways to achieve success opened the views of all participants, including BV(DU) SPIRIT Club participants, namely Ms. Gayatri Muzumdar (Student at School of Physiotherapy, Pune), Mr. Kushagrah Sahani (Student at School of Physiotherapy, Sangli) and Mr. Yug Vatyani (student at IMED, Pune)

Apart from the presentation about participation, on the last day students were also given full opportunity to present all messages, impressions, activities during this international event, there was also one event, namely 'student premium time'. "This activity was a special activity for students to show their understanding of the SPIRIT project. All participants carried out various other practical activities such as korfball games, traditional sports and regional games played together to develop sports to prevent non-communicable diseases, with young people as carrier’s agent of change,"

Spirit Project Training Program In Bangalore

Under Erasmus+ funded SPIRIT Project, consortium organized training program in Bangalore from February 29 to March 4, 2024. As a project head Prof. Dr. Kirti Mahajan, along with Dr. Sneha Katke, Principal, School of Physiotherapy, Sangli, Dr. Sachin Shetti, Asst. Prof., Dr. Prashant Naik, Asst. Prof, and two students namely Mr. Siddharth Khadilkar & Ms. Diya Bhadavankar from the School of Physiotherapy, Sangli attended training program.

Their active participation contributed to the success of the event and further strengthened international collaborations in promoting a healthier society. Sessions regarding Brands and ways of Branding taken by Dr. Preshth, parallel session with dissemination meeting of project coordinator was attended by all partner universities coordinators. The second session was Types of Personalities and assessing tools, which was quite an internalizing one. The Opening ceremony of ISBR Sports Center, Cultural Events and folk dances from all countries were organized on the second day of program.

Walkathon - "Walk for Unity, Empowerment, Health, and Well-Being."One highlight of the event was the Walkathon held on March 3, 2024, with the theme "Walk for Unity, Empowerment, Health, and Well-Being." Nearly 1000 participants walked along the track at ISBR Business School, Bangalore, India, to promote unity and raise awareness about health and well-being.

Visit to NGO’s & Presentation by all SPIRIT Clubs

Started with an engaging talk by Dr. Ivan, on understanding the psychology of students. This talk was highly beneficial to the students as it provided them with a deeper understanding of themselves and their peers. Following the talk, the entire team had the opportunity to interact with three NGOs: Arogya Bharat, cricket for disabled individuals, and students’ community engagement. This interaction not only fostered collaboration but also opened avenues for addressing specific needs and interests in various areas.

Students were given the opportunity to express their thoughts and reflections on the past five days. Mr. Siddharth Khadilkar, student at BV(DU) shared his views on the importance of research, education, and skill development. This provided a platform for students to voice their opinions and contribute to the overall learning experience.

International Global Innovations 2024 – A Multidisciplinary Conference

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University)'s School of Physiotherapy and Office of International Affairs organized the "International SportsUnite 2024" - A Multidisciplinary Conference under the Erasmus+ SPIRIT project on February 3rd and 4th, 2024, at Bharati Vidyapeeth Dhankawadi Campus. Distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Hon. Mr. Abhijeet Kunte, Indian Chess Player & Chess Grand Master of India, and Guest of Honor Hon. Mr. Mandar Tamhane, CEO Northeast United FC, graced the occasion. The event also witnessed the presence of eminent personalities such as Hon. Dr. Asmita Jagtap, Hon. Dr. Vivek Saoji, Shri. G Jaykumar, Dr. Mandar Karmarkar.

Dr. Kirti Mahajan served as the Conference Advisor, while Dr. Swati Bhise acted as the Organizing Chairperson. Dr. Anushree Narekulli and Dr. Rachana Dabhadgav jointly held the position of Organizing Secretary. Dr. Sneha Katke and Dr. Swapnil Vidhate were also in attendance at this program. The conference witnessed participation from 422 attendees representing India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. It featured 70 paper presentations covering diverse disciplines such as Physiotherapy, Nutrition, and Sports Psychology, addressing a broad spectrum of sports-related topics.

The speakers, adopting a multidisciplinary approach, provided insightful guidance on various subjects, including Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, Sports Dentistry, Sports Training, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Rehabilitation, Para-athletes sports, Sleep & Exercise performance, and the Importance of 3D printing technology in healthcare industries.

In a remarkable achievement, Miss Khushi Sharma and Miss Nausheen Tamboli, third year UG students, secured 1st and 3rd prizes, respectively, in the sports UG category. The success of 'International SportsUnite 2024' underscores Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University)'s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary discourse and fostering excellence in sports education.

International Conference On Global Innovations : Sustainable Practices And Emerging Trends

BV(DU)’s SPIRIT Project Team recently participated in the International ‘ISBR Business School’ Conference, in Bangalore from February 29 to March 4, 2024. Representatives from various European and Asian countries, including Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, attended this event. The conference focused on global innovations, sustainable practices, and emerging trends in academia and research.

As a project head, Prof. Dr. Kirti Mahajan, along with Dr. Sneha Katke, Principal, School of Physiotherapy, Sangli, Dr. Sachin Shetti, Asst. Prof., Dr. Prashant Naik, Asst. Prof, and two students namely Mr. Siddharth Khadilkar & Ms. Diya Bhadavankar from the School of Physiotherapy, Sangli, represented BV(DU) at the conference. Their active participation contributed to the success of the event and further strengthened international collaborations in promoting a healthier society.

Principal Dr. Sneha Katke, Dr. Prashant Naik and Dr. Sachin Shetti presented three research papers at the conference, and Dr. Sneha Katke had the honor of receiving the Best Paper Award among various tracks. Dr. Prashant Naik represented BV(DU) during their presentations, highlighting the universities contributions to sports and social activities.

During the conference, the participants engaged in discussions and activities aimed at fostering collaboration in academic research and community service. Special emphasis was placed on promoting the importance of exercise and good nutrition, particularly among marginalized groups such as women, children, and individuals with disabilities. The SPIRIT Club, with members from different countries, discussed various sports activities and traditional dances as preventive measures against non-communicable diseases. Each team presented their contributions to sports and other social activities.
