About Department

This department is responsible for the study of toxins of different origins including animate and inanimate. It takes into account the medical aspect of law and the legal aspect of medicine. In the present day, the biggest problems faced by mankind are related to water and air pollution.

Some of the important guidelines of the various techniques that are mentioned in Agadtantra play an important role in reducing the toxic effects of the industrial remnants and waste poisonous gases and chemicals, hazardous effects of all types of chemicals and drug-induced toxicity. Vidhivaidyak (Forensic Medicine) also plays a significant role in protecting the health of the individual as well as the community.

It also makes sure that any accused person is not unjustly denounced or condemned by the community or society. One also gets to know the legal aspects of medical practice which plays an important role in this age when the CPA act is well-accepted. Department offers the following courses BAMS, MD (Ayu), Ph.D. (Ayu)

Achievements

The accomplishments of the alumni, students and faculty are notable from the fact that their work is acknowledged as they are awarded for it also. Our alumni Dr. Suryajit H. Pawar is a gold medallist of the PG course in 2013.

Highlights

In an endeavour to help the students get scientific knowledge, weekly group discussions in the form of seminars and journal clubs are organized for postgraduate students. It is here that individual inputs, current updates, and faculty opinions come to the fore and help in the enhancement of knowledge of the students.

The department organizes field visits annually to upraise UG and PG students of a practical approach to the subject viz. Forensic Science Lab –Pune and Mumbai, Rajiv Gandhi Snake Park, Katraj Pune, Sessions Court Shivajinagar Pune.
Agadtantra OPD & IPD started operation on 2nd May 2017 and with the passage of time, it has been observed that the number of patients suffering from skin diseases, hair problems, the toxicity of various origin, etc has increased.
