Department of Rasa Shastra evum Bhaishaijya kalpana

About Department

The Rasashastra Bhaishajyakalpana department excels in providing an enriching experience to the students in terms of traditional and modern aspects of Ayurvedic pharmacology. The department deals with ayurvedic pharmacy and pharmacotherapeutics and the students learn to identify hundreds of drugs.

They also get first-hand experience about how to make the ayurvedic medicines, test the quality standards that have been laid down and know the mode of actions and therapeutic uses in practical clinics. In the sphere of pharmacy, all routinely used formulations like Arogyavardhini, Gandhak rasayan, Drakshasava, Saraswatarishta, Brahmi Ghrita and more than 100 such products are made.

At the Ayurved College, students are also taught practically how to make products like Rasapottali, Rasasindura, Yashad bhasma, Abhrak bhasma and Abhrak satva. Rasashastra Bhaishjyakalpan is considered as the ‘the backbone’ of Ayurvedic medical science since it enables the development of the thought process in the minds of students regarding activities of drugs and formulations for any disease. One of the unique features of the Ayurvedic treatment is the rational selection of appropriate medicine using the chronotherapeutic approach and food-drug interaction.
