About Department

The subject Shalakyatantra deals with the diseases and treatment of Netra, Karna, Kantha, Nasa, Mukha and Danta. The Shalakais deal with taking care of the sense organs.

Ultramodern instruments like Two Operating Microscopes with Beam Splitter and Camera for Eye and ENT surgeries, Nasal Endoscope, Audiometer are available for diagnostic & surgical purposes.
Live audio-visual demonstrations of various surgeries to the students.

Achievements

The students have been recognized for their work not only by the institute but also at the other plants for the work that they have done in the field of Ayurved.

P.G. Student, Dr. Akash Bhatanagar has received Gold medal in M.S. Final University Exam held in May/June 2012.
Our PG student Dr. Mahesh Kasav has done Fellowship in Refractive Surgery from Arvind Eye Hospital, Madurai and is now working as a renowned refractive and phaeco surgeon in Pune.

Highlights

Ketaro Kit is available for postgraduate students for boosting their confidence in various Ophthalmic surgeries.
PG students are offered hands-on training on goat’s eye and acquire expertise in Cataract Surgery.
All types of major and minor surgical procedures are performed in the department like SICS, DCT, DCR, Squint, Pterygium, etc. related to Eye and Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, SMR, Septoplasty, T. Platy, Mastoidectomy, FESS, etc. related to Ear, Nose and throat.

Ultramodern surgeries like Phaecoemulsification, Endonasal DCR, FESS are regularly conducted at the OT.
The latest instruments include a Sinuscope and an Endoscopic Camera that help the students to learn Diagnostic Endoscopy and a few latest surgeries like FESS.
Some specific Ayurvedic procedures like Netratarpan, Nasya, Karnapuran, Raktamokshan are also done in the department.
